Buy Your Own State
This virtual shop for public services helps to illustrate everything the state does today and how much money it costs us. By entering this imaginary shop you will be able for the first and perhaps last time in your life to choose for yourself which services you really want from "your" state and those for which you would not pay even a single Slovak crown. The cost of your state will then be calculated based on your choices and you will discover whether and by how much your taxes might be reduced by your selections.
You may select from services financed from the state budget; covering all public administration services might make the task confusing and unmanageable. You can discover more about the extent and direction of financial transfers from contributions and municipal taxes here .
The prices of the individual services come from the approved 2008 state budget. In the calculation, service prices are rounded up to account for ministry expenses which cannot be classified into individual items.

How much do state employees cost us? |
|
|
Salaries for employees in public administration will cost us more than SKK 110 billion in 2006. This means that each citizen will pay, on average, SKK 20,000 toward state employees' salaries. |
The likelihood hood that this number will not grow further - or even possibly fall at some point - is minimal. |
